Tree Trimming Requests on Club Property
Woodmont Country Club members are fortunate to enjoy the natural beauty and trails within Club property, like the Bluff. Because trees within the Bluff play such a critical role in preventing erosion, landslides, protecting water quality, and providing habitat, requests for tree removal and tree cutting within the Bluff are subject to review and prior-approval by Board.
Requests must be submitted between January 1 and March 1, and will be considered in the April Board meeting. All required information must be submitted to be considered.
The Woodmont Country Club will only consider requests for trimming trees on Club property in cases where the trimming will benefit the health of the tree and bluff. Requests for the sole purpose of creating or improving views will not be considered. Trimming of trees in Critical Areas will need a multiyear maintenance plan for the trees being pruned. A multi-year approach is not only better for the health of the trees and the stability of the Bluff, but will train certain species to grow a lower canopy reducing long-term costs and the need for future pruning. The plan shall be funded at the beginning and managed over an extended period of 3 to 7 years, depending on species, current state, and reason for trimming of the trees. The requestor agrees to this process by submittal of a request.
All costs, including but not limited to, arborist report, permit fees and tree service provider fees, are the responsibility of the requestor. Homeowners engaging in a multi-year plan will be asked to obtain an estimate for the entire project, with those funds held in a reserve account by the Club specifically for that project. Only Club-approved contractors are allowed to complete pruning or tree cutting work on Club property.
Once a request is reviewed by the Board, a response will come from the Club email and if approved, the Club will pursue necessary permits from the city, if applicable. Once the permit has been granted, the requestor will receive a final approval, with a timeframe for the work to be completed. The requestor shall notify the tree committee chair a minimum of 5 days in advance of work being done, so the Club can have someone on site to observe the work.
